Corinne

Corinne Mount Pleasant

Corinne Mount Pleasant - Jetté, B.Ed., C.M., is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at Concordia University in Montreal, where she has taught undergraduate students from all disciplines in engineering and computer science since 1979. Her area of specialization is Technical Writing and Communications in Engineering. A status Indian from the Tuscarora Nation, she has conducted research and written extensively on Aboriginal issues for numerous government agencies and organizations for over twenty years. As a contributor to the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples, her research studies focused on the development of a skilled labor force as an essential element of economic development for self-sufficiency. She has been involved with the Native Access to Engineering initiative since its beginnings in 1993, and has been an invited speaker on several topics related to Canada's First Nations. Assistant Professor Jetté holds the Order of Canada, the country's highest civilian honor, which was awarded to her in 1992 for her efforts in public education on human rights and First Nations issues.

Dawn

Dawn Wiseman

Dawn is the Coordinator of the Native Access To Engineering Programme at Concordia University. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Building Studies and a Master of Arts in Media Studies, both from Concordia University. Her thesis-project research focused on collaborative development of science-focused electronic learning applications for Aboriginal children. One of the co-founders of REACH, a member of the Actua network of science camps, she has almost 15 years of experience in recruiting and promotion of engineering and science as career choices for young people. Dawn has been involved with the NAEP since its beginnings, and is responsible for the management of its initiatives including curriculum material development, outreach activities, the websites and special projects. As the creative director for the NAEP's curriculum material, she designs and develops content for hard copy and web-based instructional units that deliver culturally appropriate learning outcomes in mathematics and science.

Leila

Leila Kayali
Leila holds a B.F.A. in Computer Animation from Concordia University. She is currently managing the NAEP’s website while running her own company, 3dMaverick Multimedia. Leila's strong creative sense comes from a background in painting and photography. Her expertise includes designing highly intuitive GUIs, programming interactive learning modules and managing projects for clients worldwide. She is currently collaborating with fellow Montreal artists to develop innovative ways of bridging the gap between traditional art and technology.
