Just a quick reminder that the deadline for our math/science/IK
inventory project is this Friday, February 10, 2006 at 17h00 EST.
Everyone who submits projects before that point will be eligible for a
drawing of a $500 gift certificate from Chapters/Indigo (what teacher
can't use more books?).
So far we have submissions from every province and territory except
Manitoba and BC! And we know people in those places are doing great
work! We also have several submissions from the US and Saskatchewan is
by far the runaway leader in submissions to date. Thanks to everyone who
has taken a few minutes to fill out the form at
http://www.nativeaccess.com/teacher1/survey2.php.
For those of you who haven't yet submitted your initiatives, we are
looking for information about any science/math/IK focused programme
operated by a tribal authority, community centre, region, province,
school or enthusiastic local teacher(s). Submissions can include, but
are not limited to, science fairs or camps, cultural fairs, after school
clubs, community centre groups etc. The goal of this exercise is to pull
together as much information as possible so successful models from one
place can be shared across the country and across borders - for
instance, we have a fabulous idea from Maine for a family math night
where kids make tessellation t-shirts. We do welcome submissions from
outside of Canada, but ideas must be transferable and programs allow for
participation by Canadian students/teachers.
Please visit the following site to submit information about programmes
in your local area,
http://www.nativeaccess.com/teacher1/survey2.php.
If you know of people running programmes which should be included in the
inventory, please forward this email to them.
Thanks for your input so far.
Best,
Dawn
