Discover Engineering
Online Engineers!..... Don't they drive trains? Do your students
think this? If so, surprise!!! Engineers do lots of cool stuff! For example, did
you know electrical and computer engineers design compact disc players and DVD's?
Engineers create lots of cool gadgets. On this Web site you can find out what
type of engineer builds roller coasters, water slides, snowboards or fighter jets/planes.
You can also find fun activities, experiments and projects all related to engineering.

Constructor
It allows you to design a creature
made of sticks and springs and give it motion -- you end up with a lifelike
simulation of 2D objects roaming a 3D world. The engineers of Constructor have
pre-made several of these creatures. Adjust the wave motions, amount of gravity,
strength of muscles, etc. and get your creature to move or fly around in their
little cyber world. |

How Safe Are Composite Materials?
On November, 11th, 2001 an Airbus 300 crashes in a New York suburb known
as Rockaway killing all 265 on board. The crash re-ignited worries about terrorism,
especially since the jetliner was operated by American Airlines, which lost 2
planes in the Sep. 11th attack. As evidence was gathered by investigators, suspicions
shifted to material failure. Investigators believe carbon-fiber composites in
the fin failed. What are composites and how do we test them? To learn more about
this topic
