National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) - The World's Largest Mathematics Event

To celebrate Mathematics Education Month the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is running the 7th Annual World's Largest Mathematics Event (WLME). This year's topic is "Mathmatics at the Fair". The NCTM has a GREAT 16 page booklet of activities which range from figuring out how long the wait for rides is to predicting the "popability" of different kinds of popcorn.

helps students in grades 6-12 learn new mathematical ideas by building on old ones. Each problem or sequence focuses on one mathematical idea and also connects that idea with others.

Math From Other Cultures

Learn about the ancient system of mathematics of the Vedas, which was rediscovered between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras, or word-formulae.
